One of the main challenges faced by MICADA was ensuring effective farm water management and bridging the gap between irrigation potential created and utilized. Tracking the progress of applications and monitoring financial and physical achievements posed data management challenges.
It was important for the authority to analyze the implementation of the Micro Irrigation scheme by MICADA. To track the progress of applications at different stages, monitor financial and physical achievements, identify pending applications, and assess the area covered under micro-irrigation.
Tableau was used as the data visualization tool to analyze the data extracted from the State Government’s Maria DB database. The information was presented using various visualizations such as bar charts, donut charts, and maps. The dashboard provided filters to drill down to application-level details and view relevant information as per requirements.
The analysis of MICADA data revealed that approximately 15% of the total cultivable command area (CCA) is covered under the Micro Irrigation scheme, while the remaining area is yet to be covered. Over three years, around 62% of the total beneficiaries were covered. In terms of application status, about 22% of PDMC applications reached the subsidy disbursement stage, while the rest were pending at various stages. For OFWT applications, none had reached stage 3, and only around 19% had reached stage 2.
